Look at these pictures. Make sure the above picture is not visible and only these two pictures are on your screen.

dresscolor-bottom-2

#1 – Original picture bottom half of dress with contrast changed to 100%

#2 – Original picture bottom half of dress, no modifications.

Just look at them for a few minutes. Are you starting to see the blue and black colors in picture #2? Once you see the blue/black coming out in the 2nd picture, scroll up slowly and look at the whole original picture at the top of the page again scrolling from the bottom to top.

Do you see the blue and black now in that original picture? Crazy!

If you do not see it, then look away from your computer, then look back at just these two images. See if #2 starts to look more blue/black as you look at it longer without seeing the full image. Even try to scroll your screen so just the bottom of these 2 images are visible and scroll slowly up. It is important to scroll slowly up the image to visualize the blue/black colors. Then try slowly scrolling up again to the top original image.

Now after you have done that, return to these two pictures. When you see the blue black in #2, this time scroll down and look at the original picture located below scrolling slowly from the top of the image to the bottom. Does your perception change back to the white & gold/tan? Mine did. So I had to share this crazy phenomenon. The original picture above and the original picture below are exactly the same as is the #2 bottle half of dress picture. But see how your perception changes when you scroll up and look at the original and scroll down and look at the original!

It seems that the perception goes toward the blue/black when you view the bottom of the dress first. So does this mean that those who see the white/gold view things from the top down and those who see the blue/black view things from the bottom up?
